Saturday Night at The EMU Student Center will be the MICHIGAN PREMIERE of a movie titled “Seven Signs.” It’s a documentary trip through the South showing Appalachian folk as they really are. I haven’t seen the film but I can guarantee it will be great. The leader of this film is Colonel JD Wilkes of the band Th’ Legendary Shackshakers.

This movie is a retort to the Movie ‘Searching for The Wrong Eyed Jesus. Another documentary film that travels through the South to Churches and interviewing people but Colonel JD wasn’t happy with the way people were represented so he made his own.

I’ve been lucky enough to talk to Colonel JD a lot in my life (Thanks to a stint working at AM1480 WSDS — When it was country) and he is one of the most interesting people you can imagine and I’m sure that has been portrayed in the film.

Here is a Link to an Interview Jeremy Baldwin Did with Colonel JD and the Shackshackers 12-14-2004 and another 4-7-2004 and another 7-12-03

To make the show a little better. The Local band Black Jake and the Carnies will perform a small set before the show. As I understand it one of their friends worked on the movie so please turn out to support them, him, and the Colonel.

Here you will find A good article about the movie.
